The 13th Amendment

People had different opinions about passing the 13th Amendment. Some were happy about it while others were not. Using different colors mark a person in the crowd who is either happy or not, and explain who the person is and why he/she is feeling that way.

  Using the following text from the 13th Amendment to respond to the prompts that follow

Section 1. "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." 

Section 2. "Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation." 

Imagine you are a plantation owner whose slaves have been as a result of the 13th amendment. You are upset by this development due to your workforce being allowed to legally leave your plantation.

Imagine you are a freed slave of the same age you are now. The Thirteenth Amendment has just passed. It is time for you to make a bucket list. A bucket list is a list of things a person hopes to accomplish in his or her lifetime. The items on this list can be practical, trivial, professional, or imaginative. This list should be historically accurate. (Ie... walk down the street without a pass, learn to read, wear a stovepipe hat).:
