(1) Multiply the number outside the parenthesis by each term inside the parenthesis.

(2) Write the original operation symbols (add or subtract signs) in their proper place.

(3) Change double signs: + + = + + – = – – + = – – – = + (same signs = +, different signs –)

(4) Combine any like terms.
