Dream Job: Vet Techs
Most dogs do not like going to the vet, but this vet's office is different. Dogs cannot wait to get in the door.

The vet technicians who work here help the veterinarians. They want the animals to like them. They hand out plenty of treats.

One of the vet techs is Ana Smith. One time, she saved a dog who was wandering along the road. She let him come into the office.

Special Care For Animals

Dogs love Smith, and so do cats. One Siamese cat who was sick let Smith hold her. The cat purred loudly.

Smith studied to be a vet in Romania. That is the country in Europe where she was born. Now, she lives in Britain. She has been working as a vet tech for two years. The job helps her learn English. It also helps her to feel good about dealing with the animals' owners.

Getting along with owners is a big part of the job. Owners want their pets to get the best care. The owners want to be treated well too.

Busy Job At The Vet's Office

At 8:30 in the morning, Sedecaru is already on the phone. She is talking to someone about their pet's eating problems. She is talking to another pet owner about shots. She is very calm and reassuring. She sounds like she is smiling with her voice. She is ready to work.

The first visitor of the day arrives around 9:00 AM. He is a labradoodle who needs to get some stitches out. Smith talks to the dog and offers him pieces of dog chew. The dog appreciates it and wags his tail. The dog's owner does too.

Other pets are beginning to line up in the waiting room by 9:15 AM.

Vet techs need to be strong. They cannot get too emotional. They have to have good people skills. At the end of the day, they have to care enough about animals to want to make a difference in their lives.
