Sasha is finally released from the hospital. While they are happy to be settled back in at home and school, they have a lot of healing left to do. Some of the healing is physical, or course, but Sasha also has emotional healing ahead. In the wake of the violence Sasha encountered, theiur community also needs healing- as does Richard and his community.

When Sasha’s parents explain that they want to see Richard tried as a juvenile, Dan asks Sasha what they think about this. Sasha replies, “He did something that’s really dangerous and stupid. But then again, he’s a sixteen-year-old kid, and sixteen-year-old kids are kind of dumb” (pg. 212).
