Literary- All Saints' Day at Night

You never truly recover after losing someone you love.

It’s a family member’s job to comfort you when you’re scared.

Sometimes you have to do things you don’t like for your family.

It brings families together to remember people they have lost.

“‘But we already went today,’ Tomek said. Earlier, Tomek and his family had taken flowers and candles to his grandfather’s grave for All Saints’ Day.”

“It smelled like her perfume. Babcia was always nice to him. Mama was right — Babcia would want him to be there.”

“Aunt Dorota chatted on about his grandfather. Then their path turned. They were at the cemetery. He just knew it.”

“Tomek stood next to Babcia, and she hugged him. Then his smaller hand took her larger one, and they left the cemetery together.”

He wants to honor his deceased grandfather.

He wants to be there for his grandmother.

He wants to conquer his fear of the cemetery.
