STIMULUS (POTENTIAL ENERGY) AND RESPONSE (KINETIC ENERGY)
Introduction:
Energy is the ability to do work. It’s anything that can carry out an action or
maintain a process. Energy can be changed from one form to another but it
cannot be created nor destroyed. The simplest way to explain the concept is energy is something that lets us do things. Whenever we move we
use energy
In physics, the law of conservation of energy states that the total energy of an isolated system remains constant—it is said to be conserved over time. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed; rather, it transforms from one form to another.
There are two types of energy:
1. Potential energy: stored energy
2. Kinetic energy: the energy of moving things
Procedure for Modeling conservation/release of stored energy:
Making a stick bomb—The Cobra!
NOTE: In order for this to work,
someone must be holding down the last stick added to the
Cobra weave starting at step 3. DON'T LET GO UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO EXPLODE THE STICK BOMB!
