In this problem, following order of operations, I would divide 2 by 2 before I add 36. This would leave me with an answer of 37.

But if I add parentheses around 36 + 2 then that changes the answer.

First I add 36 and 2 and get 38, then I divide by 2 to get 19. Different answer because of where I placed my parentheses.
