I created the word art using a variety of different words from the literature that explained the various aspects of Social Studies. I included words from the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) because I thought those words explain in some detail what students are expected to understand. In addition, I add the 10 Thematic Stands because the strands assist the teacher and the students in understanding what is required to be successful at understanding Social Studies. I think that once a teacher has the big picture social studies can come alive in the classroom for the students as well as the teacher.
