All About Dolphins

Tale of the Teeth
Dolphins are part of the whale family.  Unlike blue whales and other baleen whales, dolphins are toothed whales.  A dolphin’s teeth are cone-shaped and very sharp.  Dolphins use their sharp teeth to catch slippery fish and other prey.  Some dolphins eat only fish. Other dolphins seem to prefer a diet of squid and octopus.  Bottlenose dolphins are fond of fish, mollusks, and crabs and other crustaceans.

Bottlenose dolphins, for instance, replace their outer layer of skin every two hours!  Smooth skin helps the dolphin move quickly through the water
