Objective: SWBAT identify the systems in the 8th grade science classroom so that the class routines can begin to feel like ‘clockwork’

Do Now:

Guided Notes: Big Goals, Big Tasks

0

Classwork: Graded daily and returned for a score (0-4)

  1. Look at the number the short arm is pointing to. That is the hour.

  2. Look at the number the long arm is pointing to. That is the minute.

0

Many times, the hour arm will not be pointing exactly one number; in that case, you round down. For example, if the hour hand is halfway between the 1 and the 2, you would use 1 as the hour number (round down).

Identify how the different parts of the clock can be used to help you identify which clock displays a later time.

CFS:

  • identifies personal connections to the source of evidence

  • describes connections to the source of evidence

"I know that the clock on the (left/right) displays a later time because the hour arm ... and the minute arm are ... "
