After watching the video above, a few students were asked how the Grand Canyon was formed. Which student's answer is the most correct based on evidence from the video?

Abraham - The Grand Canyon is an accumulation of different factors. First, 5-6 million years ago Glaciers beneath the canyon are what caused the steepness of the canyon. After a while, these massive glaciers melted and now the cayon became a wasteland of water. The second factor that created the Grand Canyon was massive winds 38 million years ago, which blew through the area and caused rocks to blow into each other and compress. These winds had speads of 500 miles per hour. The compressed rocks formed layers of metamorphic rock. The third and final factor that made the grand canyon was massive hail. About 1.8 million years ago, hail the size of golf balls carved throught the grand canyon by smashing into the side of it. Hail also melted creating small river banks in the canyon that moved debris and mud downstream. And that is how the grand canyon was formed.

Marisol- From the video, we see that the Grand Canyon used to be covered by an ocean that caused sand, dirt, and sea shells to be deposited at the canyon, this added to the land. Then the ocean dried up. Next, the Colorado river 5-6 million years ago caused weathering of the sides of the canyon becuase it had tons of water mixed with sand and rough rocks, it was like liquid sandpaper. The river caused erosion of the broken peices as it moved them down the canyon and. The Colorado river is what made the canyon deep. At the same time, constant rain and ice weathered the sides of the canyon into sediments and they were then carried downstream by river erosion. This is what made the Grand Canyons walls wide. And that is how the grand canyon was formed.

Cristian - According to the video, the Grand Canyon was formed by volcanoes 100.8 million years ago that erupted beneath the canyon. Volcanic eruptions caused new land to be formed on the tops of the canyon, as the magma cooled, new structures were made. The sides of the canyon were made many earthquakes time over time. Earthquakes are basically disruptions of the ground by moving plates, as the plates collided the walls of the canyon became higher and higher. We can find many things in the Grand Canyon; such as, fossils and debris and sand. These elements mixed togther and formed tremendous layers. And that is how the grand canyon was formed.
