Monday: Battle Ground
The Battle of Tippecanoe was fought in 1811 near the present-day city of Lafayette. The Shawnee Indian chief Tecumset and his brother, the Shawnee Prophet, led a surprise attack against American troops. The American troops, led by General William Henry Harrison, defeated the Indians. This was one of the last acts of Indian resistance in the area of Indiana.

The town of Peru was once known as the "Circus City." Benjamin Wallace held the first circus performance in Peru in 1884. Today, the International Circul Hall of Fame is in Peru, and performances are held there in the summers. Peru hosts the Circus City Festival in July.
