Rocks can be broken down in a variety of ways through the process of weathering. Which of the following is an example of a chemical form of weathering?
The wind blows sand which slowly wears down the face of a rock in the process called abrasion.
Acidic water seeps into the cracks of limestone causing a reaction with the rock and creating holes in it.
Water enters into the cracks of a rock and, as it freezes and becomes ice, expands to break the rock in a process called wedging.
Plants grow on rocks and their roots grow into the cracks of the rock, breaking it apart.

Miami Beach is a popular tourist destination because of its beautiful beaches and white sand. However, over time, the sandy part of the beach seems to be shrinking and the water creeps further and further towards the boardwalk. Every few years, the city needs to bring in sand to replenish the shrinking beach. Which of the following explains why the city of Miami Beach needs to bring in sand every few years?
The sand is pushed up to the boardwalk by the waves
The ocean waves cause deposition of sand on the beach, causing the beach to shrink.
The ocean causes weatehring of sand on the beach, causing the beach to shrink.
The ocean waves cause erosion of sand on the beach, causing the beach to shrink.

Lori is learning about two parts of the rock cycle. Weathering and erosion. She needs to explain how weathering and erosion are different. Which of the following correctly describes the difference between weathering and erosion?
Weathering is the movement of rocks by wind, erosion is the movement of rocks by water.
Weathering is the breaking down of rocks by physical and chemical means; erosion is the movement of weathered or broken down materials.
Weathering is when rocks change from one type of rock to another; erosion is when rocks are broken down.
Weathering is the breaking down of rocks by animals: erosion is the weathered materials from an area.
According to the video,
What is weathering, erosion, and depostion?
According to the video, weathering "breaks the sediment", erosion "takes the sediment away", and deposition "drops the sediment in a new place"
According to the video, deposition is "a measurement of the sediment", erosion "the process of frezzing the sediment", and deposition is "the final temperature of the sediment"
According to the video, weathering is "atompsheric changes", erosion "measures the humidity in the climate", and deposition is "the climates response to those factors."

The root of the word deposition is deposit.
What does the word deposit mean?

The word deposit means to "dig a well."
The definition of deposit is to "inject with character."
Deposit means to "drop something off."
Deposit means to "cause something to undergo tension."
Mr. Chavez has decided that you are the EVALUATOR. You are given the the task of evaluating which student is more correct based on your understanding of the difference between weathering and erosion. Only one student is correct, which student is it?
I am in agreement with Anayah who said, "waethering is like a tracker. Weathering is essentially when you use satalites in space to track how clouds moves. Erosion is the program that they use to track the movement of these clouds."
I agree with Bryan who said, "weathering is like a jacket. You like you wear it when the temperature of the atmosphere and stuff gets cold. Erosion is like a potion that you drink that makes your stronger and more resilent."
I understand and agree with Genesis who said, " Weathering is like transporting to a new universe. You use the teleporter like in Rick and Morty and that is weathering because it is based on the weather. Erosion is like generatign enough power to transport. You need to use a battery of some kind. Erosion actually facilitates the transport because you need energy if you know what I mean.
I agree the most with with Alexis who said, "Weathering is like using your finger to pick a booger in your nose. The finger breaks the boogers down into smaller parts, and that's what weathering does, it breaks things down. Erosion is basically transporting something, like when you take the booger to a new place, like when you move the booger from your nose to a napkin.
Sort the cards into weathering, erosion and deposition categories.
Hint:
Four belong to weathering
Four belong to erosion
two belong to deposition
A river poilishing rocks smooth without removing them.
Layers of sediment dropped at the bottom of a lake a long time ago.
Rain washing soil away from the P.E. field carrying it away to somewhere else
Muddy deltas forming at the mouths of rivers as soil is dropped off there by river water
Wind blowing sand against a rock causing the rock to have abrasions and to break down
A mudslide flowing and moving mud down a hill.
Water freezing in the cracks in rock and splitting them open.
A hurricance washing sand off of a beach.
Strong winds blowing sand across a beach.
Tree roots growing around rocks and breaking them.
Weathering "breaking"
Erosion "carrying"
Deposition "dropping off"
