The area of a rectangle can be expressed as the SUM of all its shapes. Here is an example of finding the area in this way using algebra tiles. (just an example- no work necessary here). We call this "Area as a Sum"

The area can also be written as (length)(width). Here is an example of mine. Remember how to label the dimensions of an algebra tile (shown in the video). We call this "Area as a Product"
