Directions: Think about Loung's guilt after she steals a handful of rice. Can you recall a time you felt guilty for or about something as a child? Include the following in your answer:
1.) Explain a time you felt guilty or someone you knew felt guilty for or about something.
2.) Include at least two pieces of visual imagery (what were you wearing? What objects were near you? If you are describing someone else's guilt, make these images up for an artistic effect).
3.) Include one piece of auditory imagery (sound). Give at least one specific sound (examples: cars growling in the background, laughing from the tv in the living room).
4.) Include one example of either a simile or a metaphor (when you compare two unlike things. Example: the man was like a dog, mindlessly chasing the scent of any woman)
5.) Now that you look back on it, was it really your fault? OR did outside factors cause you or someone you know to do or say something
Ms. Jernberg's example:
I remember taking money out of my mom's wallet when I was in middle school. I was in the 7th grade. I always wore ripped bell bottom pants with black boots and my fuzzy green sweater. I wanted to get this shiny metalic lip gloss at the mall that I lost the week before. I took $15, which was enough to get the lip gloss and a pretzle with my friends. I didn't think anything of it until I got home and a loud rattling of the metal door startled me. Someone was knocking. My mom had ordered food for me and when the delivery man came, she was panicking: "I swear I had more in here! Where did it go?". The delivery man was waiting at the door. My mom couldn't pay him, so he left. My mom then started crying because she couldn't feed me. She said she was a bad mother. My heart was as heavy as a ton of bricks. I didn't tell her I took it. Looking back, I was just a kid. But the guilt from that day made me think about consequences to my desires.
Note, I invented some of the details to meet the requirements. I really don't remember what I wore back then or if the delivery man knocked or rang the doorbell.
