Dē gaudiō et dolōre, dē fortūnā bonā et malā nārrant. Plautus dīcit,“Deī virōs quasi pilās habent.” Rōmānī quoque fābulās Plautī et Terentiī amant. Multī Rōmānī fābulās praetextātās et fābulās palliātās in theātrō vident. Fābulās Pācuviī et Ennī nunc nōn habēmus, sed sex fābulās Terentiī et unam et vīgintī fābulās Plautī nunc habēmus.
