Lesson Four: Conducting Your Interview!

Objectives: In this lesson, you will use learn how you to record your interview, and what will be expected of you to complete this project.
  • You will be conducting this interview over the holiday break.
  • Remember to make a plan with your recording partner in advance.

Ways to Record Your Interview:

***Note: Interview can be in Spanish or another language. You do not need to translate it***

5) Just WRITE DOWN THE RESPONSES onto paper.

Reflection: After conducing your interview, write a brief reflection about the experience using one or more of these prompts:

  • How did your partner react to the interview experience? How did you feel as an interviewer?
  • What challenges or surprises did you encounter, and how did you work to address them?
  • Did you have the chance to go “off script” and ask a follow-up question? If so, what question did you ask, and how did that change your interview?
  • What question evoked a particularly memorable response?
  • What did you learn that changed the way you previously thought about an event, person, or your recording partner?
  • What would you do differently if you were to conduct another interview?
  • Who else in your life would you like to interview? Why?

Here are some ways you can express yourself artistically for this project:

  • Create a color poster illustrating a moment from a story your family member told you.
  • Create a multi-panel color storyboard or comic strip illustrating a story your family member told you.
  • Write a 1-2 page poem inspired by your family member’s interview.
  • Write a multi-page narrative inspired by your family member’s interview.
  • Create a shoebox diorama inspired by your family member’s interview.
  • Make a flipbook animation.
  • Pixilart.com or Pixilart app (Link)
  • Powtoon.com
  • Adobe Spark App (Link)
  • Minecraft
  • Legos!
  • Or another artistic idea you have (must be approved by Advisor).
