Indiana is known throughout the country as the "Home of Basketball." Nicholas McKay brought the game to Indiana in 1892. McKay was taking charge of the Crawfordsville YMCA, and he thought the new game of basketball would be a good sport for the winter months. McKay hired a local blacksmith to make two hoops. He attached old coffee sacks to catch the ball, and an Indiana tradition was born!
