We identified flavor ingredients that will give our salad dressing the right flavor balance and also dissolve so there are NO sediments left in the salad dressing. But, we still need to figure out how to create a salad dressing that doesnāt separate!
In order to think more about these questions, weāre going to do a quick demonstration. Watch the videos, hen answer the questions below.
Demonstration #1: Oil and Water
Question 1
1.
What do you observe about the mixing of these two liquids?
Demonstration #2: Vinegar and Water
Question 2
2.
What do you observe about the mixing of these two liquids?
Question 3

Testing Attraction
We will be testing how attracted molecules of water are to one another and how attracted molecules of oil are to one another.
To test the attraction between the molecules of a liquid, weāll put drops of the liquid onto the penny and observe the shape that the drops form and the number of drops that will stay on the penny before the liquid spills over the side.
