Graphing allows us to use the x - axis to detect number of solutions and state those solutions.

Typically we would try to get x by itself but we have two x terms of different powers so we can't isolate them easily. So it is easiest to make one side zero and graph the quadratic to see where the intercepts are.

What does x equal? We need to look at the x - intercepts. The graph value when y is 0 tells us what x is.
Example: x2 + 5x + 4 = 0
