Why is Ms. Pipkin making you go slow and follow all of these steps (reading the directions, helping your partner measure, standing in a specific spot, verbally confirming when people are ready, etc.) when it seems like you could do it a lot faster without them?

Below are actions you must do at each station. Put them in order according to when each action should be performed

  1. Partner B holds the ruler to measure (and record in their data table) all 3 shots while partner A double-checks that their ruler and line of sight are lined up correctly and verbally confirms the measurement they see.
  2. Partner A takes one practice shot and then verbally confirm with Partner B that they are ready for them to start shooting
  3. Both Partners mark their shot locations on the target in their data table
  4. Partner A holds the ruler to measure (and record in their data table) all 3 shots while partner B double-checks that their ruler and line of sight are lined up correctly and verbally confirms the measurement they see.
  5. Partner B takes their practice shot, confirms verbally that Partner A is ready and shoots all three shots - verbally confirming with Partner A that they are ready before each shot - while partner A marks their locations on the target
  6. Read the directions for that station (that are on the wall)
  7. Switch Spots with your Partner
  8. Make sure you're standing in the right place (to the right of the marker on the floor, with your toes lined up to the center of the marker).
  9. Put the ruler, eraser, instrument, and sticky notes (if used) back on the table.
    **And throw away bad marshmallows if you are at a station that uses them**
  10. Partner A shoots all three shots - verbally confirming with Partner B that they are ready before each shot - while partner B marks their locations on the target
  11. Erase all marks on the target and sticky notes (if used)
