INTRODUCTION: To develop the skills necessary to design custom cover art for your podcast, you will first build a logo to express who you are. The logo you create in Part 1 of this lesson does NOT need to represent your podcast.

Part 1 of this lesson was adapted from Google's Applied Digital Skills curriculum.

  2. Open Google Drive.
  3. Create a new document.
  4. Rename it.

  1. List five words or phrases you would use to describe yourself.
  2. List a symbol, shape, or color to go with each item.

  1. Open Google Drive.
  2. Create a new drawing.
  3. Rename it.
  4. Choose and draw a shape or shapes for your logo.

4. Add a Fill Color and Border Color to Your Logo


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Choose colors for the shapes in your logo.
  2. Add a border color.
  3. Adjust the thickness of the border.

  1. Type text in your logo.
  2. Choose a font style.
  3. Increase the font size.
  4. Add color to your text.

📄 Show your work: the doc
Make sure that your document contains all of the required elements below then complete the steps that follow.
  • Five words or phrases you would use to describe yourself
  • A symbol, shape, or color to go with each item
1. Open your Google Doc
2. Take a screenshot of the text on your doc
3. Upload the screenshot image file to the canvas
4. Zoom and pan your image to ensure that it fills the canvas appropriately

🎨 Show your work: the logo
Make sure that your logo contains all of the required elements below then complete the steps that follow.

★ Shapes (from your doc)
● Colors
● Custom borders
★ Text to describe you (from your doc)
● Custom font style
● Custom font size
● Custom text color

1. Download an image file from the Google Drawing where you created your logo.
2. Upload the image to the canvas.
3. Zoom and pan your image to ensure that it fills the canvas appropriately

🎨 Design a custom logo for your podcast
Use the same skills and tools from Part 1 of this lesson to create a Google Drawing to be used as podcast cover art.

1. Create and title a new Google Drawing
2. Use the File>Page setup menu to set your image size to 3000\times 3000 pixels
3. Create your own cover art
Create an image that is representative of your podcast series or a particular episode
4. Download an image file from your Google Drawing
5. Upload the image to the canvas
6. Zoom and pan your image to ensure that it fills the canvas appropriately

⚓️ Visit Anchor.fm and follow these steps to upload your individual artwork:
  • Log into your Anchor account on the web
  • Click "Episodes" at the top of your screen
  • Click on the episode you want to add individual cover art to
  • Click the edit pencil to the right of your episode name
  • Scroll down to customize this episode
  • Click on "Upload new episode art"
  • From your computer choose which file you would like to include as your artwork, use the zoom option to adjust the zoom of your image, click "Save"
  • Click "Update Episode" at the top of the page to save your image
  • If you're including a picture on a saved episode draft, complete all the steps above, but click "Update Saved Draft" as your last step in order to save your image
