Question 1
1.

Graphing allows us to use the x - axis to detect number of solutions and state those solutions.

Question 2
2.
  • 2 solutions
  • 1 solution
  • No solution
Typically we would try to get x by itself but we have two x terms of different powers so we can't isolate them easily. So it is easiest to make one side zero and graph the quadratic to see where the intercepts are.
Question 3
3.

What does x equal? We need to look at the x - intercepts. The graph value when y is 0 tells us what x is.
Example: x2 + 5x + 4 = 0

Question 4
4.

What does x equal? We need to look at the x - intercepts. The graph value when y is 0 tells us what x is.
Example: x2 + 15x + 14 = 0

Question 5
5.

Solve. x2 + 4x = 0

Question 6
6.

Solve. x2 + 16x + 64= 0

Question 7
7.

Solve. x2 + 2= 0

Question 8
8.

Solve. 5x2 + 11x + 2 = 0

Question 9
9.

Solve. 2x2 - 9x + 4 = 0

Question 10
10.

Solve. 5x2 -22x - 48 = 0
