Warm Up - Discussing Water Use

As water resource engineers, we’ll keep talking about water use today to help the people of East Ferris. Water is an important resource that people use every day.

How do you use water in your daily life? (HINT: Think about your day from when you wake up to when you go to bed. How will you use water?)

Remember, East Ferris is on an island, so it is surrounded by salt water in the ocean. The people on Ferris Island need to use freshwater and not salt water for their daily activities, just as you do. So, we need to figure out why they are running out of freshwater.

Criteria For Success (CFS):
- Read title of the graph
- Read the x and y axis, labels, and units
- Read the question
- Use the information from the graph to answer the question

Today, we’ll put together knowledge we learned yesterday with a new text to answer our Investigation Question. We’re going to record big ideas, not small details - let’s practice identifying the difference between a big idea and a small detail quickly.
