An example of a surface reservoir

A reminder how groundwater reservoirs work

A reservoir is somewhere that freshwater is stored. A groundwater reservoir stores water underground and when it rains or when water flows on the surface, some of the water goes through the soil and collects between the spaces of rock underground.

Human Impact on Water

The amount of water available in an area depends on the amount of water flowing in and the amount of water flowing out of that area.

  • West Ferris gets most of its freshwater from rain they collect in a surface reservoir.

  • East Ferris gets freshwater from the groundwater reservoir.
