Wind is formed when air moves from an area of high pressure to low pressure.

Air molecules have weight and can apply pressure on different surfaces. Pressure relates to how much something pushes on something else.

In our atmosphere, the air pressure is caused by the weight of all of the air molecules pushing against the surface of Earth. In some areas the air pressure is high, and in some areas the air pressure is low.

Imagine a pile of books stacked one on top of the other.

The weight or pressure on the bottom book would be much greater than the pressure on the top one.

It’s the same with air molecules; in some areas, air molecules have greater pressure on them than others.
