Schools today are like schools long ago. We go to school to learn just like they did long ago. Kids learn how to read and write at school. We also go to make friends just like we did long ago. Kids play with each other at recess and talk at lunch. However, there are many ways that schools have changed over time.

Long ago, children had to walk many miles to school. Now, children take buses or ride in cars to school.

Long ago, schools had only one room. Now, schools are large buildings with many different classroom.

Long ago, children in your class were many different ages. Now, children in your class are all the same. age. 4

Long ago, children had to share a desk. Now, students have their own desk.

Long ago, students used chalk to write on the slates. Now, students use pencils to write in notebooks.

It is fun to look at how schools have changed and how they have stayed the same.
