EXAMPLE:

2 3/7 - 6/7

1. Regroup by changing one of your whole numbers into a fraction & add it to the fraction you already have (see red steps with arrow)

2. Subtract your numerators, leave your denominators the same, and bring down your whole number that you have left over

EXAMPLE:

2/3 + 5/6

1. Make common denominators by writing out the multiples for each denominator

2. Circle the lowest common multiple both numbers have

3. Make your equivalent fractions

4. Add your fractions (only the numerators)

*OPTIONAL TO EARN A 4: If your answer is an improper fraction change it to a mixed number*
