Fractions & Decimals Review

In your math notebook, title a new page "Fractions & Decimals Review". You will complete all your work for the following problems in your math notebook. Make sure you number each problem and SHOW WORK for ALL of them. Always SIMPLIFY.

Then attach your work to the google classroom assignment. The work is worth 5 points today.

Adding & Subtracting Fractions
Remember to rewrite them as equivalent fractions with COMMON DENOMINATORS. Then only add or subtract the numerators. The denominators stay the same.

Multiplying Fractions
You DON'T need common denominators. Multiply both numerators AND denominators. If you are multiplying mixed numbers, rewrite them as improper fractions first.

Still confused? Watch this video.

Dividing Fractions
Same as multiplying fractions, but rewrite the reciprocal of the SECOND fraction first before you multiply. In other words, flip the second fraction.

Adding & Subtracting Decimals
Remember to add and subtract decimals by lining up the decimal. This lines up the place values. Then bring the decimal straight down after you add or subtract.

Multiplying Decimals
Multiply like you normally do. Then count how many digits you had behind the decimal in the original problem, and make sure your answer has that many digits behind the decimal, too.

Dividing Decimals
If your divisor (number outside) is a decimal, move the decimal to the right until it is a whole number. Remember to move the decimal the same amount of times in the dividend (number inside). Then divide and pop the decimal straight to the top.
