I was very conscientious of the time

Skimmed through the reading to give myself more time to spend on the questions; flipped back & forth to the passage looking for support for my answers. 

Took more time on the reading so that I wouldn't/didn't have to flip back & forth while answering the questions; was able to rely on mostly memory of what I read.
