TLDR; We skipped Chapter 4-6, which were about the development of the American colonists and how they helped the British fight in the French and Indian War. The conflict over LAND between France and Great Britain actually lasted nine years from 1754 to 1763, and is also known as the Seven Years War because most of the fighting took place in the seven-year period between 1756 and 1765.
Say what you will about King George III and Great Britain, but after the Seven Years War, King George III gave the Proclamation of 1763, which actually protected all Native American lands west of the Appalachian Mountains (i.e. all land west of the red line).

This portrait is believed to portray an African American fifer in the Revolutionary War.

Brazilian Lew was a veteran of the Seven Years War who had marched to Ticonderoga and served in the army for seven years as a frontline soldier, fifer, and drummer. At age 32, he fought at Bunker Hill in 1775 for the 27th Massachusetts Regiment. He was said to have taught all 12 of his children to play musical instruments.
