Objective:
SWBAT identify the transfer of energy (PE and KE) in a changing system
SWBAT identify and describe the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration
Do Now:
Question 1
1.
Rank each position from least to greatest PE.
visibility

Guided Notes:
Question 2
2.
What is the relationship between starting height and PE?
CFS:
Accurately describes energy types (KE/PE) by analyzing the movement of objects
Student describes the impact and relationship between changing variables (height and energy)
Question 3
3.
What is the relationship between starting height and KE?
CFS:
Accurately describes energy types (KE/PE) by analyzing the movement of objects
Student describes the impact and relationship between changing variables (height and energy)
Question 4
4.
If the Hulk starts with 100 units of PE, what is the maximum amount of KE that he can receive? _________
10
90
100
110
Practice:
Question 5
5.
What conclusions can be drawn about the final direction of movement in this collision? (assume the mass of each object is equal.
CFS:
Accurately identifies the changes to each object in a collision
Accurately describes the relationship between force, and motion
Question 6
6.
What conclusions can be drawn about the final direction of movement in this collision? (assume the mass of each object is equal.
Object A will move to the left after the collision, however both objects will experience the same change in speed because forces in a collision are equal and they have the same mass.
Object A will move to the left after the collision, because more force is experienced to the left in this collision and they have the same mass.
Question 7
7.
What conclusions can be drawn about the final acceleration of movement in this collision?
Object A will have more acceleration after the collision because it applies less force in the collision
Object B will accelerate at a faster rate after the collision because A and B experience the same force, however B has less mass.
Object A and B will accelerate at the same rate because they experience the same force in the collision.
Question 8
8.
How much force and acceleration did Car 2 experience after the collision?

Question 10
10.
Which Trial, 1 or 2, did Car 2 experience a greater acceleration? Why?
Once you find the force of object A in trial 1 and trial 2 you can use F=MA to find the acceleration of each object B. I found that trial 1 has a greater acceleration because more force is applied per mass of object B.
Once you find the force of object A in trial 1 and trial 2 you can use F=MA to find the acceleration of each object B. I found that trial 2 has a greater acceleration because more force is applied per mass of object B.
There is not enough information to know why which crash has more acceleration.
