Building Knowledge Together: Today we are going to learn about propaganda, which is information that is primarily used to _______  an audience and promote a specific cause, which may or may not be _______ . Propaganda can be found in news and journalism, government, advertising, entertainment, education, and activism. Simply put, propaganda is a _______  tool  to convince you to feel or act a certain way.

The objectives of propaganda are _______  positive. For example, the Smokey Bear Wildfire Prevention campaign below is a form of propaganda. These advertisements make an _______  plea – don’t be careless with fire or cute woodland creatures may be harmed. The campaign was incredibly successful in preventing forest fires, which is a positive outcome.

Applying Knowledge: Today, we are going to combine your knowledge of the American Revolution with the art of propaganda to kick off the Unit 2 Performance Assessment!

Directions: You will create two protest posters to capture the spirit of our American identity and our country’s rich tradition of protesting societal injustices. Your first poster will take you back in time, to protest an injustice of the Revolutionary Era, and the second poster will protest a modern topic of your choice. Once you have finished creating your posters, you will complete a write up that explains your work further in depth.

How will I create my posters? You will create your poster using the website Canva. A tutorial on how to use the website and its features will be provided to you in the future on Google Classroom.
