📅 This video is a few years old, but the techniques Thomas recommends for being more productive in 2018 apply to this year as well.

4.

How does the quote, what gets measured gets managed apply to habit tracking?

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. Do you currently reserve specific blocks of time for homework and studying?

  2. If so, what tool do you use to manage your schedule, and how does it work for you?

  3. If not, do you think that more carefully managing your "free" time could help you be more productive?

OneNote, Google Keep, and a variety of other free apps offer checkbox-style task list formats. Both of these tools sync across devices and make great tools for managing your to-dos and accomplishments.

Personally, I maintain Google Keep checklists for managing my teaching responsibilities each day of the week and two for weekends as well.

Additionally, I've created 5 workouts as Google Keep checklists. These sync across devices, which provides convenient access whether I am on a computer or mobile device.

I simply check items off of those lists as I complete them then reset the Keep note the next time I need them using the Uncheck all boxes tool.

9.

Identify one example of friction between you and that activity. Also, describe how you can reduce that friction to increase your productivity.

10.

How likely are you to take the steps you described above to increase your productivity? Explain.

Disabling notifications and removing apps is a very common recommendation to reduce time-wasting activities.

11.

One popular technique is to remove apps like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube from your device and instead use a web browser on your phone or computer to access that content.

How does this simple method increase the "friction" between a person and these types of low-density fun?

The rest of this video, while interesting, is OPTIONAL.
