People who work hard and challenge themselves consistently increase their access to opportunities and life possibilities.
The earlier in life that you begin working hard on a consistent basis, the more achievable options you will have later in life.
Consider this diagram
The scattered circles represent different opportunities throughout life.
The circles outside of the arcs are options that are out of your reach. Even if they seem appealing to you, they are not feasible options.
The width of the arcs represents your general competence. That width is based largely on the decisions you make, your experiences, and how hard you choose to work.
The circles that are inside the arcs are options that you can have. They're within your reach.
The horizontal "Now" line at the bottom represents the present time. The top of the diagram represents your future.
