Rainforests by Charlotte
The rainforests are huge areas of land in warm parts of South America, Africa, and Asia. Because these places are warm and get tremendous amounts of rain, plants and animals  there ___________ . Trees grow to enormous heights and there are more different forms of plant and animal life than anywhere else on earth. These rainforests are very important to life all over our planet. These lush green areas help keep the air clear all over the world. They make oxygen that animals and people need to breathe. Many people are worried about the rainforest. They are ____________  because in many places the forests are disappearing. People are clearing the forests for new farms and cities. Some people think rainforests are dangerous places that are full of monstrousanimals and poisonous plants. But in fact, many useful products come from rainforests including brazil nuts, chocolate, and pineapples that are delicious. There are many snakes there---mostly                     _________________ , but even the poisonous ones can be helpful to people. For example, the venom of the eyelash viper is used for medicine for people with high blood pressure. Cures for many serious diseases have also been found in plants from these forests. You may think that people who live in the rainforest would be untrusting and _______________  of outsiders. But scientists who have traveled to these areas have met the local people and say that idea is nonsense. These scientists have informed us that the people are very helpful.
