It is illegal to pillage (steal from) and indiscriminately (without reason) destroy the property of your enemy.

It is illegal to destroy the food and water supplies of the opposing civilian population.

It is legal to attack the objects necessary for civilian survival (such as crops, water sources, or cultural objects).

What do these symbols mean?
All human beings, regardless of their sex, race, nationality, religion, or political beliefs, need to be respected and protected during times of war.
During a conflict, you are only responsible for caring for the sick and wounded people on your own side.
It is illegal to discriminate against and take revenge on ("engage in reprisals") POWs.
All POWs must be allowed to go home once the conflict ends.
