Punishments for Killers

Place the following in order from who you believe should recieve the [1] most lenient punishment (ex: 20 years plus parole) to the [5] most severe punishment (ex: death sentence)

1. Jealous Lover (i.e. killing the spouse of an ex-girlfriend)
2. Murder in Self-Defense (i.e. was not trying to kill, but did as a way to protect self)
3. "Justified" Homicide (i.e. killing an abusive spouse)
4. Schemers (i.e. killed as part of a larger plot to obtain money or fame)
5. Murdering Torturers (i.e. serial killers who also torture)

All types of murder are wrong; however, the punishments vary. What is the best way to help courts decide the punishment for different types of murder?
