All types of murder are wrong; however, the punishments vary. What is the best way to help courts decide the punishment for different types of murder?

Place the following in order from who you believe should recieve the [1] most lenient punishment (ex: 20 years plus parole) to the [5] most severe punishment (ex: death sentence)

  1. Schemers (i.e. killed as part of a larger plot to obtain money or fame)
  2. Murder in Self-Defense (i.e. was not trying to kill, but did as a way to protect self)
  3. "Justified" Homicide (i.e. killing an abusive spouse)
  4. Murdering Torturers (i.e. serial killers who also torture)
  5. Jealous Lover (i.e. killing the spouse of an ex-girlfriend)
