Lesson Summary:
Students continue to read I Am Malala, making observations and developing questions about chapters 2–3 of the text. Students note important events in each chapter and begin to examine the structure of the text, analyzing the ways chapters 1–3 relate to one another. Through this work, students build solid understandings about Malala’s childhood, her personality, and what life in Pakistan was like before the Taliban presence.

Students will understand how to build their knowledge of I Am Malala by observing and organizing the events in chapters 2 and 3 of I am Malala.
Students will be able to organize ideas and identify relationships of I Am Malala.
