THE CAPITAL OF IRISH AMERICA Irish began moving to Boston before the American Revolution. Some came for economic opportunities. Thousands of others were deported by the British to populate the colonies. Boston has Irish held the colonies at first St. Patrick had a Day celebration in 1737. Irish. Fleeing the Great Hunger, about 75,000 desperate refugees paid about $15 to board leaky “coffin ships” that could take a month to cross the Atlantic. So many people died on the journey, the ocean was called The Bowl of Tears. Yet poor, uneducated, and starving immigrants kept coming. In 1850, one-third of Boston’s population was Irish, and local citizens feared their town, called the Dublin of America, would become the “poor house of the world.” Mobs
The Capital of Irish America It talks about the struggles the Irish went through to find a new location to escape poverty. The Irish went to Boston and were shown discrimination because of their poverty and struggle. Over time Irish got opportunities like being the mayor of Boston and their culture is what shaped Boston.
The article basically talks about how Boston was the first place that immigrants went too. Also how the american revolution came up with the name St. Patrick day. And that the immigrants traveled to Boston and how they had consequences.
I read about the Capital of Irish America, how many Irish climbed the step to Immigration. Also how the Boston Irish held the colony's first St.Patrick's day. But how Irish people struggle either because of discrimination, economy, jobs or the dangerous conditions.
The Rush of Immigrants In the passage it talks about how the Old migration up until the mid 1800s brought thousands of Irish and German people to the new world. They came into the new world for better jobs, opportunities, and freedom. Not all Americans welcomed new immigrants in 1924 they didn't allow millions of immigrants based on ethnicity.
The article talks about the history of a third of American ancestors entering the United States as immigrants in a New York landfill. Most of these people were looking for better lives from their home countries but had to go through numerous obstacles to enter the US. As a whole, many immigrants, some Chinese had large problems to face along with legal bans and deniance.
The Rush of Immigrants the article talks about how new immigrants were coming to the united states because the wages they could earn and the food they could eat surpassed their former realities.
The Rush of Immigrants This article was about many things such as how the immigrants came and what the Americans thought and how they felt about that. They also talked about immigration and it's background like where they were coming from and some of what they went through.
This article talked about how Jews and slaves were fleeing for a better opportunities. They had to go through this process that examined their health and were asked 29 questions known as the muster(SOme passed and some didnt). As Time went on laws and acts took place that limited certain groups from entering the U.S such as "The naturalization act 1790, The Emergency quota act". On the contrary, there were laws that helped immigrants such as the 1948 enactment of the Displaced person act, the Nationality act.

The text goes over the Ellis island,, which is a location meant to serve as a point of entry for immigrants coming to america. The U.S had changed certain immigration policies over time from exclusionary to including. The efforts made had allowed a lot more freedom towards those who had been in other countries prior to the U.S
The passage talks about the history of immigration, the passage talks about all the different races of people that were coming to escape from their homes like Jews, Slavs, and Italians from 1892 to 1954 and they would go through Ellis Island as a point of immigration over those years. Of course, there were more people that came to the U.S. as time went on but the article talks about the requirements that people needed to have like money they didn't want anybody who couldn't support themselves while looking for a job and the health examination that started as soon as they would see the immigrants. But overall, laws changed, rules changed, and acts changed, as time went on and as immigrants kept coming.
America's Shifting Views on Immigration The summary of the passage is the origin of the immigrants and what the immigrants had to go through to become US citizens. How Ellis Island was a place where our ancestors took their first step there and how prostitutes and homosexuals weren't allowed to come to the US. And then later on in the passage, all immigrants had the right to come to the US.
Irish people fled to other countries and suffered a lot of discrimination. Before the American Revolution, the Irish began to move to Boston. Some are for economic opportunity. Irish politicians become powerful by offering voters jobs and charities in their neighborhoods in exchange for votes.
immigrantas still are treated unfairly just like the irish and they continue this and pay low to them. immigrants share there culture and people may or may not like it.
The Irish left their country because of food problems they were famine and weak. People come to the USA for a better life just like the Irish they came for a better life and opportunity that life can send your way. Ukraine because their whole country is going to war and people need a safe place to be, a place where they can restart and live a better life. They might face racist people, people who will hate them, and people who will try to bring you down but you have to keep pushing and work hard so you can succeed.
The story related to immigration today is almost like it's the same. People now still get judged as they did back then because of their cultural background, religion, and so on. Because people still get judged it makes it harder for people to feel welcomed in America because they get judged on something they can't control. I think America has grown a little more because they've started to welcome immigration more but the legal process is really long and can take up to years. America's way of deporting is a bad system and they could do better instead of making it a scary situation for people that came to America for a better life.
I think that the story about these immigrants in the story relate to the experiences of immigrants in today's world is pretty similar. I think this because the passage talks about how they moved over to America for better opportunities, lifestyles. And people in America still believe and say that immigrants are coming to America to steal their jobs. But I do think America has grown a little bit more accepting of immigrants today because people now are more open-minded and are more accepting. They love immigrants' culture and lifestyle, for example, their food. We come to America to also share and show people how different we are living in different countries before coming to America.
The united states are concerned about immigrants being unable to integrate into the American culture is the problems that can occur when cultures clash. Many people are already untrustworthy of certain races, but with people from outside the states, this can cause much civil unrest and maybe more oppressive laws to be born. This is important because if things like this were to happen, the US can easily become a hostile and oppressive nation. More so than it already is.
If immigrants are unable to integrate into the culture and society of the United States, then the United States will have an increase in racism. This is important because having more knowledge and respect for other people will not only increase the state's population but can also increase the thought of people wanting to come to the U.S to work. More money will flow into the economy.
