Your screen should look like this: Select the lab NOT INTRO!

After selecting lab, your starting screen should look like this:

Take a few minutes to explore the simulation changing different settings to see what happens. Remember you start by adding a mate.
After you have explored the different settings, reset everything and start the first mission.

Mission 1

Change any of the conditions so that you end up with a population of entirely brown rabbits after at least three generations.

Required
1

Mission 1: Once you have accomplished this mission:
1. Explain the settings you used to make to get all brown bunnies. (mutations, environmental factors, summer or winter, etc. AND how many generations it took)

2. Include a screenshot of the simulation showing your success.
(Screenshots should include the picture of the bunnies AND the graph below showing generations.)

Click on the + to add a picture into your answer.

Required

Mission 1: In which situations would rabbits with brown fur have an advantage over the white rabbits? Give evidence to support your answer.

RESET everything to begin mission 2!

Mission 2

Change the any of the conditions so that you end up with a population of entirely brown rabbits with long teeth after at least three generations.

Required
1

Mission 2:
1. Explain the settings you used to get all brown bunnies with long teeth.
(mutations, environmental factors, summer or winter, etc. AND how many generations it took)

2. Include a screenshot of the simulation showing your success.
(Screenshots should include the picture of the bunnies AND the graph below showing generations.)

Click on the + to add a picture into your answer.

Mission 2: What advantage or disadvantage did the rabbits with long teeth have over the rabbits with normal teeth? Give evidence to support your answer.

RESET everything to begin mission 3!

Mission 3

Change the conditions so that you end up with a population of almost entirely floppy-eared rabbits of any color.

Required

Mission:3
1. Explain the settings you used to get almost all floppy-eared rabbits.
(mutations, environmental factors, summer or winter, etc. AND how many generations it took)

2. Include a screenshot of the simulation showing your success.
(Screenshots should include the picture of the bunnies AND the graph below showing generations.)

Required

Mission 3: Did you find any EVIDENCE that floppy ears were an advantage or disadvantage? EXPLAIN.

Discussion Questions- Use complete sentences when you write your answers.

Genetic variations are when there are different types of traits. Eye color is an example of variation in humans. There were several types of variation present in this simulation.
EXPLAIN what could have been the cause of some of these variations.

Required
2

Not all of your rabbits survived and lived in every simulation. Describe a situation that led to unequal survival / reproductive success in the simulation when one trait had a real advantage over another.

Required
2

Adaptations are when a type of living organism changes over many generations, usually in an effort to survive. Using a different example from the previous question, explain one adaptation the rabbits had developed in the simulation.

1

Which rabbit fur color seemed to be more dominant? (Color that shows up the most often?)
