Domains Name & describe the 3 domains.
This is the most recent and highest level of classification. Work by the American scientist Carl Woese and his team led to this taxon being added in 1990. There are three domains.
1. Bacteria
Unicellular with no nucleus or membrane-bound organelles. Has a cell wall. Some are harmful and some are useful.
2. Archaea
Unicellular with no nucleus or membrane-bound organelles. Has a different type of cell wall. Some of them live under extreme conditions, e.g. hydrothermal vents
3. Eukarya
A mix of unicellular and multi-cellular organisms. They always have a nucleus. Some eukarya have cell walls like plants and fungi, but animals do not.
