The map uses a scale of 1 inch = 1/4 mile

In this task, you will answer six questions to help you determine which path is the best choice. Be sure to show your work for each item.
1.

The map uses a scale of 1 inch = 1/4 mile

Select your answer below.

3.

Chris claims that Path A is 2 miles longer than Path B (from parking lot to campsite for both). What calculation error might Chris have made? What is a correct comparison of the length of Path A to the length of Path B? Explain.

4.

Complete the table to show the actual distance of each path, in miles (from parking lot to campsite for each)

5.

The table shows the amount of time, in minutes, it takes to walk a given distance, in miles, along each path. Complete the table to show the average walking rate, in miles per hour, for each path.

You can type your answer for Path A in the answer box for grading.

6.

You want the path that will get you to the campsite in the least amount of time. Which path should you choose? Explain your answer. Include information about total distance, average walking rate, and total time in your response.
