Full Discrepancy: As a class, we did not do well on this Reading skill on the Mid-Year Exam. On average, we are answering 35% of Words in Context questions right, which is 24-27% below past 11th graders at this point in the year! 

Hopefully the Rapid Fire exercise above gave you a bit more faith in the process. Some of us had trouble with time, and most of these questions were later in the test, but others need to have a bit more faith in the reading strategy.

I used process of elimination when selecting the right answer.

While I was able to narrow down my choices to 2 answers, but still chose the incorrect answer. 

I implemented a system for flagging tough questions so I don't waste too much time on a single question.

I annotated and/or underlined key parts of the passages as I read and was easily find text evidence to support my answers.

I resisted the urge to anticipate the pattern of correct answers and focused on each question individually!
