The refers to the trans-Atlantic sea voyage that brought branded and bound slaves to the New World during the Atlantic Slave Trade, also referred to as the triangle trade. Death rates ran as high as , and captives were packed tightly into small corridors.

For over 300 years, the “ ” scattered nearly 10 million slaves. 400,000 ended up in England’s 13 colonies, but the vast majority were brought to West Indies and Brazil.
