We're going to continue practicing novel reviews. Please refer to the e-mail of 29 November for a reminder of when each book needs to be finished.

A. Book review practice
For this exercise, pick THREE BOOKS that you have read. These can be ANY books, (preferably) ones that you've read for English at school, or for any other reason. Dutch books are also allowed. These will be Books A, B and C.
To start off with, write a 50-75 word review of each book that you read. Try to be as specific about story details as you can.
1

Review of Book A: (50-75 words)

1

Review of Book B: (50-75 words)

1

Review of Book C: (50-75 words)

B. Analysis
These are some short analysis exercises. They will help you think about your books in a critical way.

First off, pick your favourite book of the three. Then in the exercise below, plot the level of excitement (spanning) you experienced during the story. Here is an example of what it could look like:
1

Plot the tension/excitement in your book's plot here.

1

Describe in 2-3 sentences how your book ends.

1

Do you like this ending? If so, explain why in 2-3 sentences. If not, describe how you would prefer the story to end in 2 - 3 sentences.

1

Who was your favourite character? (Explain why!)

Here are some more creative questions:
1

Think about the main character of your favourite of the three books. If you had a car and this person asked you if (s)he could borrow it, would you let them? (Try to explain why using two facts you know about this character.)

1

Imagine one of your books was going to be made into a movie and you were asked to direct it.
Which song(s) would you pick for the soundtrack? (Try to explain why!)

C. Research your books online.
This exercise will have given you an idea of how far you are in your reading. Take the remaining time to research your books online.
