The major theme of this unit is "ideals" - the values that we try to uphold as a country. In our Declaration of Independence, we told the world that our country would fight for ideas like EQUALITY, LIFE, LIBERTY/FREEDOM, and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
The United States still has work to do when it comes to making those ideals available to everyone, but we are not the only country that struggles with these ideas. After watching the video about the modern-day protests in Iran, explain how many Iranian people today are fighting for some of the ideals that were written about in the U.S. Declaration of Independence.
