Step 1: Pick A Topic

Human activities can have a negative impact on the environment and overall biodiversity.

Over the next few days, you will select, research, evaluate, and design a solution to a negative human impact on the environment. This assignment will be broken up into multiple parts and end with a research project.

Be sure to complete each part prior to completing the final project. Each smaller part is designed to help you be successful on the final project. The parts should also be completed in order. They build on one another to make completing the final project easier.

It is also important that you read all instructions carefully.

Some examples of human impact are:
Pollution (Air or Water)
Deforestation
Urbanization
Ocean Acidification
Invasive Species
Overfishing

Choose one of these topics to explore below.

1. Pollution - watch these short video clip to learn about the impact that pollution causes on land and on water.

2. Deforestation - watch the short video clip below to learn about the destruction of forests

3. Urbanization - watch the short video clip to learn about how creation of urban areas has an impact on the environment and biodiversity

4. Ocean Acidification - watch the short video clip  to learn about ocean acidification and its impact on the environment.

5. Invasive species - Watch this video to learn how invasive species impacts ecosystems.

6. Overfishing / Overharvesting - Watch the video below to learn about the effects of overfishing.

For this part of the assignment, you will be asked to find 2 solutions that are already being either implemented or developed for future implementation.

You will need to include 1 source for each of the solutions

Lastly, you will be asked to summarize each of the solutions. Do not include direct quotes for your summary. Make sure that it is written in your own words.  Summaries should be 3-5 sentences long.
