Some of the biotic factors of this biome consist of huge populations of herbivores of different sizes (birds, rodents, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, gazelles, etc), as well as carnivores such as wild dogs, lions, leopards, eagles, and scavengers such as vultures, jackals, and hyenas. The dominant vegetation is grass. The abiotic factors are a mostly dry weather with big seasonal rains, a hot temperature, and occasional fires.
The previous paragraph is a description of which biome?
Grasslands
Tropical Rainforest
Savanna
Desert
The following are non-living factors typically found on the desert biome:
Seasonal changes, a lot of sweet water.
Occasional fires, wind storms, dry and wet seasons.
Heavy rain, great humidity, hot temperature, a lot of water.
Sand storms, hot days and cold nights, dry weather, little precipitation.
Receives less than 25 cm. of rain per year. Very dry and warm climate. Animals & plants store water to adapt to the lack of rain. Animals are active at night & plants have a thick & waxy covering.

Compare the Temperate Grassland vs the Savanna. Drag the correct descriptions under the correct biome. Number next to it is how many answers you should have! Watch out for the BOTH section!
distinct wet and dry periods
prairie dogs/bison/rodents
fires and droughts
adequate regular precipitation
zebra/rhino/giraffe
Great range of temperature
nutrient rich soils, good for farming
grasses and some trees
temperatures remain high year round
nutrient poor soil for farming
hot summers, cold winters
grasses and no trees
near the equator
primarily covered with grasses

Savanna (6)
Compare the Temperate Grassland vs the desert. Drag the correct descriptions under the correct biome. Number next to it is how many answers you should have! Watch out for the BOTH section!
hot summers/cold winters
rattlesnake/kangaroos/camels
extreme heat during the day, cools down at night
hottest biome
plants have waxy layer and longer roots
high precipitation
hot summers
grasses as the dominant vegetation
most animals are nocturnal
almost no rain
rich soil
grasses and shrubs
bison/prairie dogs/coyotes
fire

mountainous areas with areas of much grass
closed off area with much grass
open, fairly flat areas with little grass
On what continent will you not find Grasslands?
Antarctica
Africa
South America
Australia

permanently frozen subsoil; no precipitation
extremely daily temperature fluctuations (changes); limited rainfall
constant rainfall; high temperatures
How much of the Earth's land is grassland?
three-quarters
one-quarter
one-half
two-thirds
Why does fire play an important role during the dry season?
It burns dead plants for a little while before the rain returns.
It burns dead plants to ashes, returning their nutrients to soil to support new plants.
It burns dead plants to ashes, returning their nutrients to the soil to cause new fires.
It burns dead plants to ashes, returnig their seeds to the soil to grow new plants.
What kind of bark have the trees developed?
fire starting bark
watering bark
nutritional bark
fire resistant bark
What two things help keep trees from invading the temperate grasslands?
summer wildfires and poor nutrients
summer wildfires and the grazing of animals
flooding of land and lightning storms
winter wildfires and the grazing of animals
