There are several online software programs that will auto-generate citations for all types of sources. One of the most frequently used (and most reputable) programs is citationmachine.net.

First, let's follow instructions to establish an account.

  1. Click on the Citation Machine link to open a new tab, keeping all tabs (including this Formative) open.
  2. Create an account, using your school Google account as a "middle school student."
  3. Return to this Formative (leaving the other tab open).

After you have followed all instructions to the left, respond:
I was able to create an account in the Citation Machine program (Click one).

I mentioned in the above video that we would look at both Citation Machine and Easybib. Today you will work only with Citation Machine, but if you can operate one, you can operate the other.
You can also create a Works Cited page using the Citations Tool in a Google Doc!

Watch the video, THEN use the Google Doc to the right to create a Works Cited page using the supplied sources.

The "Citations tool" in Google Docs can create any kind of citation that you could otherwise create using Citation Machine, but it is a bit more limited.
